Mediocre - Apple Design Award is Misleading
I spent quite a bit on Airmail between buying it on iOS & Desktop, and I have to say I’m really disappointed with the money I spent. I switched to Airmail after using Edison Email (which is free), and have used Airmail for ~4-5 months now.
The app is surprisingly slow, especially when searching. It’s also unforgivably buggy for an app that has won the Apple Design Award. I’ve had it crash multiple times on me, and there is a frustrating bug with iPad and viewing/opening specific emails in a long chain. I’ve stuck with it since I paid so much for it, but the constant little issues have finally built up to become frustrating enough for me to try something else.
The app looks pretty, but the issues with it unfortunately overshadow what could be a good experience.
Sending Email is NOT one of the great features of this app
There is so much to like about this app and the support team has been available pretty consistently. I know this because the issues with the app have been pretty consistent. Some of the issues have even been fixed.
The issue which has not been fixed, (and from reading online seems to be a years long issue waiting to be fixed) is outgoing mail. I have finally narrowed down the functional problem. It simply will not send out email via data and/or thru any wifi connection that is not in the server settings used in setup. It sits in Drafts with a “Send Error” message. It is consistent. Call me nit picky but I think that’s kind of a big issue.
Apple gave me a refund. I repurchased when I thought it was fixed, but it wasn’t and it isn’t. Users have been complaining about this for so long I was surprised that support was going to pass it along to their developers...like it was news. Clearly some users do not experience this problem. Right? You could be one of them. I’m not.
Again, it’s a potentially great app, with some very cool features. If you like to receive email and don’t care about writing back to anyone...go for it!
Airmail is beautiful..
it's gorgeous, amazing, tons of options, sharing PDFs of emails to different servers is done excellently, etc. But some email renderings just don't get through and am stuck with either no text, placement icons, or both. This only happened to me with 3 different mailings from separate companies. I'm hoping beyond hope that this will get fixed so that I can stop using other email apps as secondaries.
Also, Airmail is a bit slow on retrieving/deleting emails, whereas apps like Edison Email retrieves/deletes an email or three instantly.
If these two things can be corrected, Airmail would be so perfectly perfect!
